Text chat

Text chat is meant for short messages during the flight. You can use public frequencies, VA channels and — where available — private conversations.

Opening the text chat

  1. Open the Text chat view in the Windows client.
  2. Pick a channel from the list.
  3. Write your message in the input field and press Enter.

Unread messages are marked in the conversation they belong to. A conversation's options let you mute, block or report people.

Selecting a channel with a command

In the text chat input field, you can use these commands to select a channel or open a private conversation:

Command Purpose Example
/a or /airport Airport channel /a EDDH
/c or /center Center channel /c ED
/v or /va Virtual airline channel /v POW
/p or /player Private conversation with a pilot /p DLH123

The first three commands select the matching text channel. For /p, the pilot must be present in the current traffic list under that callsign. The input is handled as a command and is not sent as a chat message.

Start with / to open the command list. You can then search by identifier or name; for example, /c germ finds the ED center. Use the arrow keys to choose a suggestion, then press Enter or Tab to accept it.

If a channel or pilot is not found, check the spelling and make sure the channel or pilot is currently available. /join is no longer available. Unsupported slash commands are reported as invalid and are not sent.

Good chat practice

  • Keep messages short and easy to understand.
  • Use the channel that fits the topic.
  • Do not use private messages for spam or advertising.
  • If there is trouble or someone breaks the rules: do not argue back, report it to the moderators.
